A native Austinite, Ellen is excited to call Austin home again after a stint in New York. Outside of work, Ellen enjoys reading, running with her dog Sherwood, and following Longhorn basketball in a totally appropriate and non-obsessive way.
What cause are you passionate about?
I am most passionate about causes related to women – from education to healthcare to political engagement.
What traditionally adorns the top of your Christmas tree?
A Gandalf action figure. It’s a longstanding Carnes family tradition.
Who is your favorite movie action hero?
Indiana Jones!
What was your favorite childhood book?
The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. To this day, I think it is the perfect book.
If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?
How does “Mad Men” end?!!?!

Ellen graduated from New York University with a B.A. in Classics & Classical Archaeology. Prior to joining Charity Dynamics, she worked as an editor, reporter, and copywriter for a variety of outlets, including the Texas Bar Journal. Most recently, Ellen was a project manager at a local Austin startup, where she focused on strategic communication and brand management. As a project manager at Charity Dynamics, Ellen is passionate about helping nonprofits achieve their philanthropic goals through efficiently executed initiatives.
