@life

Born in San Antonio, Nick grew up in Austin and can’t imagine a place where he couldn’t be surrounded by music, friends, and family. You will most likely find him at a concert venue or lost in the middle of a group hug with a pack of dogs that includes his diva Pit Bull Terrier, Abby.

What cause are you most passionate about?
I am passionate about nonprofits that encourage a culture of honesty, awareness, support, positivity, and lack of shame when it comes to diseases and diagnoses that we all face, be it personally or through family and friends. Whether it is cancer, AIDS, Parkinson’s or beyond, support networks are of the utmost importance and nonprofit organizations play a huge role in that by spreading light as a positive and impactful presence.

What is your favorite childhood cartoon?
Scooby Doo, because I have always loved a mix of cute, creepy, dorky and fun.

What are your favorite local restaurants?
I am partial to Austin’s East Side establishments. Justine’s Brasserie is my favorite restaurant and Weather Up is my favorite place to grab a drink. String some lights up on a patio next to a charming bungalow and I’m yours.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
After reading “Just Kids” and seeing her live at Stubb’s, I’d love to get lost in a conversation with the wise, honest, and lovely Patti Smith. Until then, I’ll keep singing “Because the Night” at karaoke.

Have you ever performed for a crowd?
My sister and I debuted our elementary and middle school dance videos as part of Austin’s MORTIFIED show, where people usually read embarrassing entries from their adolescent journals. Our presentation was a bit more visual thanks to home videos of our annual family dances. The piece closed out with a live dance to an acoustic version of C&C Music Factory’s “Everybody Dance Now” … in 90s-inspired spandex. We’ve all been though the awkward years, so it was more of a celebration than embarrassment. Ridiculous and fun!
