Every kid has at some point said “I want to be a police officer when I grow up” or at the very least, was taught to respect, trust and appreciate their community’s law enforcement. They’re the good guys.
That deeply ingrained positive association with police officers and the sacrifices they make for us made my work with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) that much more satisfying.
NLEOMF honors and remembers the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers in the United States and works to make it safer for those who serve.
Charity Dynamics had the opportunity to partner with them recently on their Ride & Run to Remember peer-to-peer fundraising event. The event, launched in 2011, initially had moderate overall growth, but NLEOMF knew there was potential to grow faster and use this event to better support their mission.
To help NLEOMF grow the event, our team conducted a thorough analysis including a review of business rules, stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis and benchmarking exercises. From that information, we were able to make several recommendations and partner with NLEOMF to execute on them. Our strategy recommendations included
- Event website redesign
- Social media integration
- More aggressive recruiting
- Participant engagement
I’m proud to report that the results were phenomenal. Event revenue increased year over year by 93% and individual participant fundraising averages were increased by 15%. And like all of our work, it was personally rewarding.
